Catching up!

I know it's long overdue, but I wanted to give a quick update on everything that has been going on over the winter.

On the business side, I am now officially an LLC--Susan Graham White, LLC--which is something that I've been working on for a while now. Nothing really changes except for those three extra letters!

In October, I was able to go to Italy for an FEI seminar in Cameri (in northern Italy) and work with the legendary Christopher Hess for the dressage portion. Luckily, my husband Richard was able to join me for the trip, and we stayed for an extra week to tour Italy. Definitely a trip of a lifetime!

Later, in December, I was asked to attend the USEA Annual Meeting in Nashville to chair the Future Event Horse conformation discussion. It was a productive meeting, and I was so glad I made the trip out there.

After December, things started to settle down more in terms of traveling, and I was able to get ready for my first winter at home in Maryland in quite a few years. To say that I was not looking forward to cold temperatures, snow and ice is an understatement! But, luckily, the weather seemed to take pity on me, and we enjoyed a mild winter. I stayed extremely busy all winter, teaching at the farm, and then traveling two hours north in Maryland to A Bit Better Farm for a series of clinics organized by Margaret Rizzo of Mythic Landing Enterprises. I also continue to do regular clinics at Allan & Clover Sport Horses. It's been great to watch my students progress over the winter months, and it will be exciting to see what the spring season brings!

Looking forward, I have a busy season of judging ahead of me. You'll see me at horse trials, dressage shows and breed shows. I'll also be traveling to Rolex Kentucky in April to take part in a Future Event Horse demonstration. After that, I'm excited to be judging at Jersey Fresh International Three-day Event in May.

On the weekends that I'm not judging, I myself am hoping to compete! Huey has been training so well all winter, and we've been able to participate in a series of clinics with Bent Jensen. He will start the show season at 4th Level this spring.

And while Huey is working on the more serious dressage movements, Quinn is just starting her journey to becoming a dressage horse. She'll be turning 2 this year, and already measures over 16h! She has started light longeing and has even worn a bridle. Just like Huey, I think this filly is going to be something special.

I think that's it for now. Until next time ...
